The location of this accommodation is fantastic, as it is very close to the Waitomo cave.

Location
Very dated, uncomfortable bed, untrained staff, mould on bathroom ceiling, over priced, no alarm clock, menu below average, food below average.

Location
Room had no closet or hangers or coat books, no dresser, primitive bathroom, carpet worn, tile cracked, wallpaper peeling. A once-beautiful old place let go to ruin. Sad.

The place was quite clean, and the staff was very attentive, and the breakfast served was fresh and included eggs.

We liked the location and surroundings. The meals were good
There was no security regarding being able to lock our room securely. The aroma from the on-suite was unacceptable. Your staff not knowing the details of our booking, (Didn't know as to if our breakfast was included in the booking or not.) The $25 breakfast cost for a piece of toast and cup of coffee!!!!!

The breakfast here was fantastic, with a wide selection of fresh and delicious food and the staff were super professional and always available to assist.

Room was very tired like the rest of the hotel. Internet service was terrible - $20 but it never worked. The Waitomo caves are a great experience and the hotel is the only "quality" one in town but no money has been spent on it for 30 years and it really shows.

I would stay here again and recommend this place to others. The property is tidy and relaxing. All of the hotel's staff are very helpful and smart. Large and brand-new rooms with a view and the location is absolutely perfect. Nice touch to have climate control and a balcony.

This was a grand old and relaxing place to stay. Particularly good location close to caves, magnificent restaurants in the local area. Again, walking distance to Waitomo Glowworm Caves. New-fashioned and airy hotel rooms with balcony. Plenty of fab options for meal.

1. Location 2. Tidy gardens and surrounds 3. Period decor.
1. Faulty shower 2. Shaver outlet not working. 3. Exorbitant breakfast costs for elderly people who merely want tea and toast. 4. Tatty building maintenance.

the staff were friendly and went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. the highlight was definitely the meals, particularly the seafood platter and dessert. It was one of the best meals I've ever had. the hotel had a lot of history and gave us a nostalgic feel with some modern touches. Cons: There were no issues during our stay. 👍.

Disappointing, although the Manager & Staff did all they could, I felt that the Hotel needs a fully refurbishmnent and should be closed untill finished, we thought this was a better choise than the Bed & Breakfast, so that was a big mistake.

The age of the old hotel
I felt sad that it is not a thriving hotel as I feel it has so much potential, the hotel is very tired and although the rooms are clean and comfortable this hotel could be a fabulous boutique hotel that many visitors could enjoy
